The math for Lewis Hamilton to bag his fourth world championship gets simpler the further we near the end of the season.
The Mercedes driver conquered his ninth win of the season last weekend in Austin, but Sebastian Vettel's second-place finish has kept the Ferrari driver's hopes alive for Mexico, although barely.
With three races remaining, 75 points are still up for grabs, but Vettel's 66-point deficit will require a miracle for him to snatch the crown from the jaws of defeat.
Here are the three potential scenarios to focus on:
-If Hamilton finishes P5 or higher, he will be crowned champion regardless of where Vettel finishes
-If Vettel retires, Hamilton is champion
-If Vettel finishes third or lower, Hamilton will be champion
