Magnussen contract dispute heading to court in January

Efforts to resolve a dispute between Kevin Magnussen and his former business manager have broken down, according to reports in the Danish media.

"That's right. I can confirm that," Dorte Riis Madsen's lawyer told the BTnewspaper. She is suing the Haas driver for current and future earnings.

The report added that a trial had now been scheduled for three days in January.

Magnussen parted with Madsen after he lost his McLaren seat after a single season at the end of the 2014. He spent a year out of the sport before negotiating his return to the sport with Renault in 2016.

The 25-year-old then put together a multi-year deal with Haas with the assistance of billionaire sponsor Anders Holch Povlsen.

However Madsen is claiming 20 per cent of all of Magnussen's earnings between September 2015 until June 2021. That's the date the original management contract had been due to expire.

"I know the case is scheduled for three days in January," Magnussen's lawyer Kristian Paaschburg said.

"I also understand that there is a court settlement between Dorte Riis Madsen and Kevin Magnussen," he added. "But I have no idea what will happen."

The dispute was originally reported in May, with the case expected to go to court in June.

Negotiations over the alleged breach of contract by the driver have been ongoing ever since, but seem to have made little headway judging from the latest reports.
