Williams' Lance Stroll will join Fernando Alonso next January at Daytona, the Canadian taking part in the Rolex 24 with the Jackie Chan DC Racing squad.

Stroll will share the wheel of the Oreca 07 LMP2 car with Felix Rosenqvist, Robin Frijns and Daniel Juncadella.

Rosenqvist, a current front-runner in Formula E, was Stroll's team mate at Prema during the 2015 European Formula 3 Championship.

The Swede also mentored the 19-year-old during his championship winning season in 2016.

It will actually be Stroll's second trip to Daytona, having made his sportscar debut in the 24-hour race in 2016, driving a Ford EcoBoost Riley DP with Brendon Hartley, Andy Priaulx and Alex Wurz.

Stroll racked up almost seven hours of seat time and even led the race at one point. The quartet of driver ultimately came home fifth, just missing out on a podium finish following overheating problems late in the race.

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
