Red Bull Racing is the latest team to announce the launch date of its 2018 RB14 car which will take place on Monday, February 19.

The specific date puts the Milton Keynes-based outfit in second position so far on F1's 2018 launch grid which is currently headed by Williams which will pull the covers off its FW41 on Thursday, this week.

In a bid to avoid its typically slow start to its season, Red Bull has worked diligently to hit the ground running when pre-season kicks off on February 26 in Barcelona.

"For many years the philosophy of Adrian Newey was to present the car as late as possible, but for next year we have changed the approach," Helmut Marko said late last year.

"Now we are ahead of schedule by two weeks compared to last year.

"If the engine is reliable, we will be able to fight in the leading group already from the first race of the season."

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
