Barcelona pre-season testing: Week 2 drivers' line-up

Teams launch their second week of pre-season testing today at the Circuit de Catalunya with the hope of enjoying four days of running free from the vagaries of the weather.

Conditions last week wreaked havoc on teams' test and development programmes, so everyone will be eager to get quickly down to work to pick up where they left off last Thursday, supported by much warmer temperatures and a sunny sky.

Furthermore, to compensate for last week's weather-impacted shortened sessions, testing will run uninterrupted from 9am to 6pm CET on Wednesday and Friday.

Mercedes, Williams and Renault will split their day's work between their drivers while everyone else is scheduled to allocate two full days of running to each driver.

Valtteri Bottas will kick off the day for Mercedes, while Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen will do the same respectively for Ferrari and Red Bull.

Daniel Ricciardo was initially scheduled to drive today but the Aussie is apparently feeling a bit under the weather, forcing the Milton Keynes-based outfit to slot in Verstappen a day early. Hopefully Ricciardo will be up and running on Wednesday.

Finally, one will note that Robert Kubica will be back behind the wheel on Thursday and Friday morning.

We'll of course be live from the Circuit de Catalunya from 9am. Just click here.

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
