Prost sells stake in Renault e.dams Formula E team

Alain Prost has sold his stake in the e.dams Formula E outfit he co-founded in 2014 with partner Jean-Paul Driot to focus on his F1 commitments with Renault.

Between the burgeoning electric series and his involvement with the French manufacture in F1, the four-time world champion admits he had a lot on his plate.

"It was difficult to do everything with Formula E and F1, even physically with all the travelling," Prost told French daily L'Equipe.

"It turns out that when Renault made the decision to focus on F1, it made sense that I follow with about the same timing."

The F1 legend - a firm believer in the future of Formula E - will retain a working relationship with the series however, remaining on a strategic panel.

Assessing Renault's current state of affairs in Grand Prix racing, Prost said the works outfit has initiated the second stage of its development.

"We are about where we thought we would be," he said.

"It's a first step, and the second one starts now."

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
