Monaco Speed Trap: who is the fastest of them all?

As everyone knows, top speed isn't the priority at Monaco where teams run the maximum level of downforce possible.

Still, the readings are of interest because you need a powerful engine to push a car with a lot of drag through the air.

Ferrari's SF71-H topped the speed trap during qualifying, followed by Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes and the Renault pair of Carlos Sainz and Nico Hulkenberg, the latter two demonstrating the progress of the French manufacturer's power unit.

At the other end of the spectrum, Honda-powered Brendon Hartley and Pierre Gasly predictably make up the rear.

McLaren's presence at the bottom of the field also confirms the MCL33's chronic lag in terms of drag, while one will note that poleman Daniel Ricciardo was over 4 km/h down on speed from Kimi Raikkonen, a deficit that only confirms the remarkable qualities of the RB14 chassis.
