Alonso 'annoyed' with FOM's broadcasting of his radio messages

McLaren's Fernando Alonso expressed his annoyance at FOM for singling out, once again, a lively radio communication between himself and the team during qualifying in Hungary.

In Saturday afternoon's weather-impacted session, Alonso and his team exchanged views over which tyres to use in the final minutes of Q2, the McLaren driver sounding a tad frustrated over the radio.

Later on, upon learning that FOM had broadcasted the intense communication, Alonso criticized F1 for doing so, insisting it wasn't the first time and feeling his radio messages, which he said were perfectly normal, were being singled out.

"It was again another radio [call] that FOM is broadcasting. That is their favourite hobby so good luck to them. I don’t really understand the meaning," Alonso said.

"What is strange when you are on track and the last sector is super wet, you cannot improve any more probably in the last sector.

"So you know you have a normal conversation, private conversation with the team if it’s worth doing another lap with extreme or not.

"At the end we attempted to do another lap with extreme. They seemed to have fun on that but it’s annoying sometimes."

Alonso ultimately missed the Q3 cut, but was actually quite satisfied with his performance.

"It was a good qualifying any way, I'm happy," he said.

"The conditions were very difficult, you need to get a bit of luck and be in the right time on track.

"In Q1, on dry conditions, we were concerned already on Q1 and now thanks to the rain we are P11, close to the points. So I think it was a lucky Saturday. We need something more on Sunday."
