Hungaroring speedtrap: Who is the fastest of them all?

A permanent fixture on the F1 calendar since 1986, the Hungaroring is a popular venue but also a difficult proposition for drivers.

It's a short layout with a lot of corners and a start-stop feel, where balance naturally supersedes top speed. Still, adequate engine grunt and muscle is necessary to pull a car down the main straight where speeds still comfortably exceed 300 km/h.

At 317.8 km/h, Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen was fastest through the speedtrap during Saturday's qualifying session, just edging Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes by 0.7 km/h!

Haas' Kevin Magnussen made good use of Ferrari's latest-spec power unit, breezing down the Hungaroring only slightly slower than the Scuderia drivers.

Looking down the field, one will note the significant gap in top speed between McLaren Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne who once again was Saturday's resident laggard.
