Todt says it's time 'to let Michael live his life in peace'

Jean Todt says the time has come for the world to let F1 legend Michael Schumacher live his life in peace.

Hardly a day goes by without the FIA president and former Ferrari team boss being asked about seven-time world champion's ailing condition.

Schumacher's health is a heavily guarded secret, the former driver confined to his residence in Switzerland as the result of his dramatic skiing accident that occurred in December 2013 in Méribel, France.

There have been rumors of improvements of his condition followed by stories of its worsening, with the Schumacher family enforcing a strict embargo on any relevant information.

Todt has remained close to the Schumacher family and it has been reported that the Frenchman visits his former driver several times a year.

Speaking in Argentina, where he was last weelend in his capacity as president of the FIA, Todt told La Nacion that Schumacher "is surrounded by his family and relatives."

"I feel blessed to have frequent access, but his health is a private matter and I think it's time for us to let Michael live his life in peace," added the 72-year-old.

"I repeat, it's time for us to let Michael live his life in peace."

Are Jean Todt's words an ominous sign? Time will tell…
