Mercedes shows caution with Spa and Monza tyre selections

Mercedes has chosen to follow a conservative approach to tyre selection for the upcoming Belgian and Italian Grands Prix, at power circuits Spa and Monza.

Pirelli's range at the classic Ardennes venue will include the supersoft, soft and medium compounds. And the cautious Silver Arrows team has chosen just six sets of the supersoft red-rimmed tyres, while Ferrari's drivers will take on seven.

Williams on the other hand will load up on the softest rubber, with an inventory of nine sets for both its drivers.

At the other end of the spectrum, McLaren will have just four sets of supersofts at its disposal in Belgium.

In Italy, where Pirelli will bring an identical selection to Belgium, both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas have opted for eight sets of supersofts.

Once again however, Ferrari's choice for its home race indicates a more aggressive stance with Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen allocated ten sets of the supersofts.

One will also note that Red Bull's Max Verstappen and McLaren will enjoy just seven sets of the red-banded rubber.
