Force India squad smashes Breast Cancer Care fundraising target

There's been plenty of pink power on the F1 grid since Racing Point Force India adopted its striking livery last season, but by chance the soft color also reflects the team's support for a great cause.

Since initiating its partnership with UK charity Breast Cancer Care in 2017, the team has raised over £165,000 for the association, already smashing its 2018 target before the season has concluded as it inspires the F1 community, its teams and fans to increase its vital awareness of breast cancer.

The fight continues however as the pink squad has its sights on the all-important £250,000 target its aiming to achieve by the end of 2020.

"We are immensely proud of what we have achieved so far in partnership with Breast Cancer Care," said Racing point Force India commercial director Steve Curnow.

"Their work is making a real difference for all those affected by breast cancer and we are doing our part to increase awareness not only of Breast Cancer Care’s contribution, but also of the personal stories of the individuals who have been touched by this disease.

"We will be renewing our efforts to raise funds for the charity, with our target of a quarter of a million pounds edging closer by the day, and we are looking forward to seeing the pink ribbon on our cars again soon."

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
