Haas' Grosjean disqualified from Italian GP results!

Romain Grosjean has been thrown out of the Italian Grand Prix's final results following a technical infringement by Haas, a decision that moves several drivers up the ranks.

Following a protest from Renault lodged immediately after Sunday's race, Haas' VF-18 was inspected by the FIA's technical delegate, with the car's floor the focus of the delegate's close scrutiny.

After several hours, the floor element was deemed in breach of the rules. The Stewards issued the following statement:

"The reference plane of car number 08 is found not to be in compliance with Article 3.7.1 d) and the clarifications given in TD/033-18 published on 25 July 2018," said the FIA.

"The surface formed by all parts lying on the reference plane must have a 50mm radius (+/-2mm) on each front corner when viewed from directly beneath the car, this being applied after the surface has been defined."

Haas was apparently warned beforehand by the FIA that the floor of its VF-18 did not comply with the rules or the governing body's latest technical directiveon the matter.

But citing summer break delays, Haas subsequently asked the FIA for a period of grace in order to make the required changes in time for the Singapore Grand Prix. The team was then warned that in such a case it would be at risk of being protested by a rival outfit in Italy, which is exactly what occurred.

Late Sunday evening, Haas team boss Guenther Steiner took to Twitter to say that the team would appeal its exclusion.

"We do not agree with the Stewards' decision to penalize our race team and we feel strongly that our sixth-place finish in the Italian Grand Prix should stand. We are appealing the Stewards' decision," wrote Steiner.

Grosjean's exclusion means Force India's Esteban Ocon inherits sixth in the final results while Williams' Sergey Sirotkin moves up to tenth, and scores his first championship point.

In the Constructors' standings, the decision demotes Haas to fifth while Force India leapfrogs Toro Rosso to claim seventh!
