Magnussen tempted by 'father and son' shot at Daytona and Le Mans

Kevin Magnussen is contemplating a bit of diversification in his racing life in the future, with a possible opportunity to team up with his father for a run at Daytona and Le Mans.

Reports from Denmark's BT newspaper claim the Haas driver could join Jan Magnussen in the works Corvette team at the two classic endurance events.

"Corvette can see the potential of a father and son team at Le Mans," said the F1 driver's father, who also raced in F1 for McLaren and Stewart in the 90s.

"But they need a team for four races and the problem is that Kevin can only do the two 24 hour races because the other two coincide with Formula 1.

"I'm trying to make them change their mind so that Kevin can do the two," Jan Magnussen added.

While his father is pressing on with the idea, Kevin isn't as hopeful a deal can be secured.

"We are working on it, but not very seriously," he said. "I don't think it will happen in 2019."

Should an opportunity effectively materialize, Haas won't prevent the 25-year-old from racing outside of F1.

"As long as it does not clash with our Formula 1 programme, we will not stand in the way," said team owner Gene Haas.
