Perez determined to extend run of ‘big results’

Sergio Perez says he and Force India “still have some big results in us”, and hopes to extend the momentum into this weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix.

The Mexican has been on a roll since the summer break, scoring points at every race bar Suzuka and even picking up a strong podium finish in Russia. This has enabled him to move up to ninth in the Drivers’ championship, 24 points ahead of his highly rated team-mate Nico Hülkenberg.

“In the last few races we've had a really good run of results,” Perez said. “I feel I’m driving at my best and the team is doing a fantastic job.”

“We want to finish this season on a high and I think we still have some big results in us, so I am confident ahead of the race.”

Perez was a man in high demand last time out in Mexico, with the Force India racer soaking up the incredible atmosphere surrounding the returning event. The 25-year-old feels the F1 community will receive an equally warm welcome at Interlagos, one of the most historic venues in the sport.

“Racing in my home Grand Prix last week was a dream come true. The support from the fans was incredible and I have so many memories that will stay with me forever.

“Brazil is another venue where you can feel the energy of the fans. The track is brilliant: it's a proper racer's circuit with some amazing corners.

“The first sector is fantastic: you can take different lines through turn one and you can end up in a battle for position that lasts until turn six.

“The lap is very technical and there are a lot of places where you can easily make a mistake, but the feeling when you get a perfect lap together is amazing.”

Perez’ best Brazilian Grand Prix result to date is the sixth-place finish he secured with McLaren back in 2013.
