Barcelona pre-season testing: Week 1 driver line-ups

Teams have finalized their driver line-ups for the opening week of pre-season testing at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.

Mercedes will continue its tradition of splitting the day's running between its drivers, with Lewis Hamilton scheduled to hit the track first at the wheel of the Silver Arrow W10.

Two other teams - Renault and Williams - will follow the same split-duty format although the Grove-based outfit won't be running on Monday, having delayed its start to testing in order to give itself more time to complete its FW42.

Williams will also award two half-days of track time to its reserve driver Nicholas Latifi.

Haas is another outfit that will give its third driver a chance to sample its 2019 car, with Pietro Fittipaldi scheduled to run on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning.

Testing will take place on each day from 9am to 6pm, with a one hour break between 1pm and 2pm.

Needless to say, the following schedule is provisional as teams are free to swap drivers at their will.

Phillip van Osten

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. Phillip's passion for racing grew even more when his family moved to Europe and he became acquainted with the extraordinary world of Grand Prix racing. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
