Sky Sport F1 anchor David Croft believes Lewis Hamilton could be tempted to move to Ferrari if the House of Maranello fields a championship-winning car.
A Hamilton/Ferrari tie-up is seen by many as a match made in heaven, combining Formula 1's two biggest stars on the driver and team front.
The reigning world champion's current contract with Mercedes runs until the end of 2020. However, many are predicting that Hamilton is more likely to call it a day on his time in the sport rather than switch teams at 36 and pursue another big challenge.
But according to Crofty, if Ferrari displaces Mercedes at the helm this year, Hamilton could be tempted to switch his allegiance to the Scuderia
"Wouldn’t it be nice to see Hamilton as a Ferrari driver?" the Sky F1 commentator told Express Sport.
"It can happen so don’t ever count that one out.
"I am sure Lewis Hamilton thought about that once or twice as well. If Ferrari have a car to win a Championship I think it could happen."
As far as this year's campaign goes, Crofty predictably sees a three-way battle involving the usual suspects.
"Red Bull, Max Verstappen is getting better and better as the years go on," he said.
"Pierre Gasly is his team-mate and crucially, Honda engines powering for the first time – a new partnership there. They are in the Championship party as well.
"There are three team, six drivers all capable of winning a race at every single Grand Prix.
"That is what fans want to see; variety and competition."
