George Russell will experience the might of an F1 car void of any flaws this week in Bahrain when he gets behind the wheel of Mercedes' W10 on Wednesday.
The Williams rookie has endured a painful start to his F1 career so far, through no fault of his own obviously as he struggles along with team mate Robert Kubica with the British outfit's faulty FW42.
Russell will nevertheless attempt to improve the beleaguered car on Tuesday morning when he runs with Williams before saddling a Silver Arrow the following day.
As Russell remains a Mercedes protégé, and still qualifies as a 'rookie', having started the maximum of two Grands Prix, the young Brit's nomination isn't exactly a surprise.
But one wonders why Mercedes has not elected to also use this week reserve driver Esteban Ocon. The German team's decision likely won't improve the Frenchman's restless demeanor.
Instead, Lewis Hamilton will be on duty on Tuesday before handing over his mount to Russell on Wednesday.
