Kvyat: 'We need a weekend where everything clicks'

After enduring weekends where its performance was either good in qualifying or in the race, Toro Rosso is hoping to put the two together in Barcelona says Daniil Kvyat.

The Faenza-based squad has scored points in three out of the first four races this season, but a lack of consistency between Saturdays and Sundays has been the weak point of the team's STR14.

In Baku, Toro Rosso's contender appeared competitive in the midfield, but poor luck and tyre issues kept the junior bull outfit out of the points.

As Formula 1's favourite testing ground, Barcelona holds no secrets and offers everyone a chance to assess their car's performance relative to last winter's pre-season testing in which Toro Rosso did well.

"It's true we went well here in pre-season testing, but this does not mean we'll have less challenges," warns Kvyat ahead the this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix.

"I hope we can have a weekend where everything comes together for us, running competitively in all sessions and the race.

"So far this year, sometimes we have been strong in qualie and other times we have been strong in the race, so we just need a weekend where everything clicks."

While the Circuit de Catalunya is seen as home turf for most teams, the track still provides a few challenges, and its familiarity implies that everyone needs to be at the top of their game as Kvyat explains.

"The track can be frustrating, because just a slight change in wind direction or temperature can have a big impact on how the car behaves from one session to the next.

"That's why you really need to be on top of your game, because with everyone knowing Barcelona so well, the gaps between the drivers and teams will be very small...even smaller!

"Every part of our performance has to be perfect. The challenge here comes from the fact there are all sorts of corners and naturally the car has to perform well in all of them.
