Brazilian racer Sergio Sette Camara has been nominated as a Red Bull test and reserve driver for the 2020 season, a role which will involve duties with both Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Alpha Tauri.
The 21-year-old former McLaren junior who finished 4th in last year's FIA Formula 2 Championship, a result that earned him an F1 super license, will embed with both Red Bull teams during the F1 season and assist fellow test and reserve driver Sébastien Buemi with simulator work.
Sette Camara will also perform F1 show runs for Red Bull's promotional programs.
"I am extremely happy to join the Red Bull family as Official Test & Reserve driver for the 2020 Formula One season alongside Sébastian," said the Brazilian.
"I’ve been watching F1 since I was five years old and I’m humbled to have been given this opportunity to work with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri."
Sette Camara began his career in Brazilian Formula 3 and was signed by Red Bull after an F3 campaign in Europe.
The young hopeful enjoyed his first official F1 outing with Toro Rosso at a young drivers test at Silverstone in the summer of 2016.
However, he was dropped from Red Bull's young driver program in early 2017. He then joined McLaren as a test and development driver for 2019.
