Verstappen reverts to older Honda engine following anomaly

Red Bull has mounted an older engine and previously used elements on Max Verstappen's RB16 aftre Honda identified an issue in the power unit's data ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix.

Red Bull executed the changes - that included swapping the ICE, turbocharger and MGU-H and MHU-K components - under Parc Fermé conditions but Verstappen will receive no grid penalty for the modifications.

"After spotting an anomaly on the data from Max's PU we decided it would be best to change it to a previously used PU for the race and were granted permission to do so by the FIA," a Red Bull spokesperson told Motorsport.com.

Furthermore, Racing Point's Sergio Perez has taken a new Mercedes energy store and control electronics ahead of the race, but the changes did not warrant a grid drop for the Mexican.
