Unwell Stroll pulls out of FP3 - team assessing plans

Racing Point's Lance Stroll has pulled out of Saturday's free practice session at the Eifel GP after feeling unwell, with the team assessing whether the Canadian will be fit for this afternoon's qualifying.

At the outset of of FP3 - the single practice session scheduled for teams after yesterday's wash out - Racing Point issued a bulletin revealing Stroll's plight.

"Lance Stroll is not feeling 100% this morning and will therefore not participate in FP3. His condition will be assessed after the session to evaluate whether he is fit to drive, at which point the team will confirm plans for Quali."

Nico Hulkenberg who replaced Sergio Perez at Silverstone earlier this year is Racing Point's official reserve driver, and the German driver is now present at the  Nürburgring after swiftly making his way from nearby Cologne.

Will the Hulk return to the grid this weekend? Wait and see...

Motor racing was a backdrop from the outset in Phillip van Osten's life. Born in Southern California, Phillip grew up with the sights and sounds of fast cars thanks to his father, Dick van Osten, an editor and writer for Auto Speed and Sport and Motor Trend. He was an early contributor to the monthly French F1i Magazine, often providing a historic or business perspective on Formula 1's affairs. In 2012, he co-authored along with fellow journalist Pierre Van Vliet the English-language adaptation of a limited edition book devoted to the great Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. He also authored "The American Legacy in Formula 1", a book which recounts the trials and tribulations of American drivers in Grand Prix racing. Phillip is also a commentator for Belgian broadcaster Be.TV for the US Indycar series.
