Daniil Kvyat says the only thought currently on his mind is to enjoy a holiday, after which he will consider his motorsport options for 2022.
Kvyat has been left without an F1 driver following Red Bull's decision to promote young Japanese talent Yuki Tsunoda to AlphaTauri where he will race alongside Pierre Gasly next season.
The move comes after Kvyat's latest two-year spell with Red Bull sister squad, his third in six years, with the Russian's well chronicled association with Red Bull marked by a promotion in 2015, a demotion the following year, a season on the sidelines in 2018 and finally a return to the fray with the Faenza-based outfit in 2019.
But Kvyat's latest setback might well signal the end of his bumpy trip in F1. Yet, the 26-year-old believes he still has something to give to Formula 1.
"[I want a] vacation, nothing else… then we see for 2022," Kvyat said in an interview with Crash.net
"I'll try to come back, because I feel like in the right ambience with the right people around me in the right car, which I like, I can be extremely competitive.
"And I still feel like I have a lot to give, I am grateful of course for everything, for all these years."
Kvyat has been outpaced this season by teammate and Italian Grand Prix winner Pierre Gasly, although the Russian's performance level improved in the back half of the season.
But it obviously wasn't enough to convince Red Bull motorsport boss Helmut Marko to retain Kvyat's services for 2021. It's also uncertain whether he will remain withing the Red Bull family moving forward.
"You can never say... Life teaches you never say never to anything. But of course, I think we've been on off quite a long time now," Kvyat admitted.
“I'm open to many ideas [reserve role]. I don't say no to anything right now.
"Next year, I think racing wise, perhaps I would like a year off. But we will see, if something really extremely good will come up, of course I'll think about saying yes.
"Otherwise, we'll try to focus us to come back to come back in Formula 1 in 2022."
