Grosjean closing in on IndyCar deal with Dale Coyne Racing

Romain Grosjean is reportedly set to head west towards the promised land this year, the Frenchman closing in on a deal to race in the 2021 IndyCar series with Dale Coyne Racing.

Grosjean's career in Formula 1 has reached a dead end following his departure from Haas at the end of last season, the 34-year-old unfortunately deprived of a swansong outing in the wake of his horrendous crash on the opening lap of the Sakhir GP.

Back in November, Grosjean claimed to have established a few good contacts in IndyCar, and according to RACER, his talks with Dale Coyne are on the verge of coming to fruition.

Coyne's team currently has two vacancies following Alex Palou's switch to Chip Ganassi Racing and Santino Ferruci's decision to join NASCAR's Xfinity Series.

While Grosjean is a leading contender for a seat at DCR, Haas F1 reserve Pietro Fittipaldi and IndyCar chargers Charlie Kimball and Ed Jones are also apparently in the frame.

In the past, Grosjean has been notoriously reluctant to consider a stint in IndyCar because of the dangers associated with oval racing.
But this year, the series' schedule will include just four oval races, and that has sparked the former Haas drivers' interest.
