Nikita Mazepin's difficult season of initiation in F1 and his frequent gyration on the track have unsurprisingly earned the Haas rookie the nickname 'Mazespin'.
The sobriquet will be a difficult one to shake off for the 22-year-old Russian, but Haas team principal Guenther Steiner is showing a bit of light-hearted complacency.
To ward off the spins, Steiner gifted Mazespin a… spinning top! The Italian hopes Nikita will put all his energy in the gizmo before a race to expel his urge to spin on the track.
"Now you can spin this one instead of spinning the car," joked Steiner. Or perhaps good old Guenther wasn't joking.
Alas, Mazespin's first try at spinning the top wasn't conclusive…
