Max still up for racing at Le Mans with Verstappen Sr

Max Verstappen is one hundred percent committed to Formula 1 and fully immersed in his title battle with Lewis Hamilton, but the Dutchman admits that racing at Le Mans one day is still at the back of his mind.

In the past, the 24-year-old has hinted at taking a shot at motorsport's legendary endurance event, preferably in a line-up that would include his father, Jos.

"Yeah, we do talk about it a little bit," Verstappen said.

"Hypercar is now coming along, but it still needs a few more entries to be fully established.

"I think it takes a few more years to really get a bit more of a proper picture of what I want to do possibly in Le Mans.

"It’s something I definitely would like to do in the future. Of course, it would be great if I could do that together with my dad."

The WEC's new Hypercar class was led by Toyota this year and a private effort by Glickenhaus, but the category is set to grow in the future Peugeot joining the fray next season while Ferrari has also put a program on its rails that could see the Scuderia return to Le Mans in 2023.

Jos Verstappen won the 24-hour classic's LMP2 class in 2008 driving a Van Merksteijn Motorsport Porsche RS Spyder, and enjoyed his last competitive motorsport outing at Le Mans a year later in the LMP1 category with Aston Martin Racing.
