Red Bull appeal stewards' yellow-flag decision on Hamilton

Red Bull have lodged an appeal of the stewards' ruling on Lewis Hamilton's alleged double yellow-flag breach in Saturday's practice session in Jeddah.

Hamilton was summoned to the stewards for the violation, but it later came to light that the yellow flag panels in a specific sector of the track had been accidentally activated, and for just one second.

Hamilton was thus cleared of any wrongdoing, but Red Bull, in its effort to leave no stone unturned in quest for the title against Mercedes has appealed the decision.

"We have appealed against this decision," Marko told Servus TV.

"In Qatar, Max gets five penalty points. Here, suddenly a yellow is no longer a yellow. There is another interpretation.

"But it can't go on like this, that you interpret it in such an arbitrary way."

Speaking to Sky F1 after qualifying, Red Bull team boss argued that the same stewards would rule on the appeal, suggesting that the initial decision would not be overturned.

However, Horner suggested that, in reference to the sanction handed to Max Verstappen in Qatar, "consistency" on the part of the stewards is required.
