Melbourne's Albert Park circuit has undergone a series of changes since F1's last visit in a bid to improve the show Down Under.
Formula 1 is set to return to Australia in April after a two-year absence due to the global Covid pandemic. Since 2020, the popular event at Albert Park has been twice postponed and then scrapped altogether as the country strengthened its border controls to fend off the coronavirus.
But teams and drivers will return in two months to an upgraded facility, with several corners modified and widened for the benefit of the spectacle on the track although Albert Park's signature sequence of turns hasn't been touched
The improvements and modifications are details in the video hereafter, with Australian GP boss Andrew Westacott and director of motorsport Mark Skaife chiming in on the changes.
But Albert Park's track tweaks have been complimented by infrastructure changes, with additional seating allowing the venue to deal with unprecedented ticket sales on April 7-10.
"We’re blown away by the incredible enthusiasm ahead of the Formula 1 Heineken Australian Grand Prix 2022 – this year’s event is on track to be the best Melbourne has ever seen and we cannot wait to welcome crowds back to Albert Park," said AGPC General Manager Marketing and Experiences Arthur Gillion.
"Not only will these additional Grandstands allow more people to experience the Formula 1 Heineken Australian Grand Prix 2022’s electrifying atmosphere, they also offer new and exciting views of a faster and more competitive Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit."
