Alpine unveils striking blue and pink 2022 livery

Alpine has revealed its striking new blue and pink colors that will grace the bodywork of its all-new A522 contender this season, courtesy of new title sponsor BWT.

Alpine presented its new livery on a 2022 F1 showcar but also offered rendering of  its new A522 that is currently in Barcelona and being prepared for the start of pre-season testing on Wednesday.

The Enstone squad's new design will rely on a push-rod front suspension and pull-rod at the rear.

A slightly higher nose than its rivals' front wing designs and narrow sidepod inlets are two specific pop-out features on the new car.

"We have multiple ambitions," commented Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi, addressing his team's targets for this season. "Fifth is the minimum we need to target after last year's performance.

"So far, we have hit our targets and we are happy with the progress we are showing, but we have to be realistic that this year all the cards are thrown in the air. We don't know where we are going to be until we all hit the track.

"However, what we all need to bear in mind is that where we start isn't important; it's where we finish. We need to continue to show improvement, targeting operational excellence and progress throughout the year."

"Our team is stronger now and, we hope, future-proof. Our driver line-up is the perfect recipe to help deliver the results we want to achieve on track.

"In 2022, we want to show constant progress with comprehensive developments across all sites to ensure we are contenders for the title in the future. We are going in the right direction and we want to carry on our climb to the summit."

The French outfit has undergone a series of significant changes over the winter at both its management and operational levels.

Former executive director Marcin Budkowski has departed the outfit as well as long-standing advisor Alain Prost.

But Alpine has ushered in former Aston Martin team boss Otmar Szafnauer who will now oversee operations under the direction of Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi.

However, perhaps the biggest change, at least in terms of cosmetics, is the arrival in the wake of Szafnauer of Austrian water treatment company BWT as Alpine's title sponsor.

Alpine will once again entrust its A522 to Esteban Ocon, now a Grand Prix winner following his triumph in the Hungarian Grand Prix, and to two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso.

Oscar Piastri is the team’s official Reserve Driver for 2022 after graduating from the Alpine Academy last year. The Australian driver is fresh from winning the 2021 FIA Formula 2 Drivers’ Championship.

Alpine will enjoy a filming on Tuesday at the Circuit de Catalunya before its drivers get down to business on Wednesday at the start of pre-season testing.
