Mitch Evans picked up on Sunday where he left off on Saturday, the Jaguar TCS Racing driver adding a second Rome E-Prix to his weekend tally.

The Kiwi relied on a bold attack mode strategy to beat Techeetah's Jean-Eric Vergne to the checkered flag and put himself in contention in Formula E's Driver Standings with 51 points, or 9 points behind championship leader Vergne.

The Frenchman, starting from pole, was on a tear at the outset while his rivals jockeyed for position behind, with Andretti's Jake Dennis and Porsche's André Lotterer leading the chase from Evans and Jaguar teammate Sam Bird.

Lotterer than upped the pace by passing Dennis, while Evans followed suit. But the Kiwi didn't let up, overhauling Lotterer in short order.

But a Safety Car triggered by Antonio Giovinazzi brought a brief pause in the battle. When the action resumed, Evans pounced with a forceful overtaking maneuver to snatch the lead from Vergne.

But Virgin's Robin Frijns, boosted by his Attack Mode, caught and overtook both Vergne and Evans, a sequence emulated by Lotterer who also got the better of Frijns.

With the field awarded just a 250kW blast of Attack Mode in the race, timing was paramount, and Evans picked up his boost of power late in the event, after another Safety car period caused by Alexander Sims and with just seven minutes remaining on the clock.

Evans charged up as his rivals' extra power expired, losing only one position in the process.

With five minutes to go, the Jaguar driver dispatched Vergne for third, and then Frijns for second before he whizzed past Lotterer and took the lead.

However, a late SC, the third of the afternoon, threatened to undo Evans' hard work. But the race leader held his own when the race resumed for one final lap, and despite Vergne's best efforts to steal his rival's thunder.

Formula E's emperor of Rome conquered his second consecutive win, with Vergne and Frijns completing the podium while Lotterer and Mercedes' Stoffel Vandoorne rounded off the top five.
