Rosenqvist remains with Arrow McLaren SP for 2023 - Palou stays with CGR

Arrow McLaren SP has announced that incumbent Felix Rosenqvist will continue with the IndyCar outfit in 2023, while Alex Palou will remain with Chip Ganassi Racing next season.

Rosenqvist's contract with McLaren Racing was extended over the summer although the team made no mention at the time of where the Swedish driver would be driving, although it was speculated that he would join the papaya squad's Formula E effort.

"I’m delighted that Felix will again be racing with AMSP through 2023," said McLaren boss Zak Brown.

"He had a strong 2022 season, and I look forward to seeing what he, Alex Rossi and Pato O’Ward can do when they join forces in papaya."

Originally, Arrow McLaren SP intended to run Palou alongside O'Ward and new recruit Rossi, but a legal dispute erupted between the Spaniard and CGR, with the latter claiming that it held an option on Palou's services for 2023.

That dispute has obviously been settled, with Palou announcing on social media that he would be returning to CGR in 2023.

However, McLaren has confirmed that Palou has also joined its Formula 1 2021 MCL35M testing programme, also revealing that the 2021 IndyCar champion was taking part on Wednesday in a closed F1 test in Barcelona along with O'Ward.

"The agreement affords him [Palou] the opportunity to test cars in separate racing series, provided that it does not directly conflict with his IndyCar commitments," read a statement from CGR.

As for Rosenqvist, who finished eighth in this year's NTT IndyCar Series standings, the Swede is delighted to tackle another exciting season in IndyCar with McLaren.

"There’s no better way to enter the off-season than with this news!" he said.

"I love this team, and I’m so happy to continue working with all the incredible people I’ve gotten to know over the past two seasons.

"With everything the team has in the pipeline, the continuing relationship with Pato and the addition of Alex Rossi, we are going to bring our A-game for 2023.

"It will be the most exciting season for me so far. Let it be March already!"
