Sauber confirms strategic F1 partnership with Audi for 2026

As expected, Sauber Motorsport has become Audi AG's partner of choice for its entry into Formula 1 as a works team in 2026.

The German manufacturer had already confirmed last month its investment in the sport as a power unit manufacturer, but the Ingolstadt firm will rely on Sauber's expertise to manage its efforts.

Sauber also confirmed that Audi will acquire a stake in the Sauber Group although the level of that investment is still unknown.

While Sauber and commercial partner Alfa Romeo will part ways at the end of 2023, the Swiss outfit will compete in 2024 and 2025 with its current power unit manufacturer, Ferrari.

"The partnership between Audi AG and Sauber Motorsport is a key step for our team as we continue to make progress towards the front of the grid," commented Alfa Romeo F1 team boss Frédéric Vasseur.

"To become Audi’s official works team is not only an honour and a great responsibility: it’s the best option for the future and we are fully confident we can help Audi achieve the objectives they have set for their journey in Formula One."
