Verstappen: No need to show my private life to outside world

Max Verstappen is one of Formula 1's greatest stars, constantly in the line of sight of the sport's media and its fans, yet the Red Bull charger relies very little on social media.

As a two-time F1 world champion, outside attention naturally gravitates towards Verstappen.

Furthermore, Verstappen's profile on the internet has also been boosted in recent years by his relationship with girlfriend Kelly Piquet, the 34-year-old daughter of Brazilian F1 legend Nelson Piquet.

While the couple will publish the odd private picture on their Instagram account, as was the case recently when they rang in the New Year, it is certainly not a frequent occurrence.

And that's how it will stay in the future insists Verstappen.

"I just don't have that need to show my private life to the outside world," Verstappen told Dutch newspaper De Limburger. "Kelly is also doing it much less than she used to.

"If I'm ever done with Formula 1, I don't see myself posting very much after that. I just don't like it."

While he feels no need to overexpose or promote himself on social media, Verstappen also says that he's often busy on his phone tending to his professional agenda, a time consuming daily task.

"Some people don't do anything else all day, I'm busy with other things," he said. "

"For example, I spend a lot of time on my phone, but that is more to arrange things around my sim team.

"That also takes a lot of time, but because it's my passion, I think that's super fun to work with."
