Video: Alonso's first day at the office with Aston Martin

Fernando Alonso has kicked off in earnest his preparations for the 2023 F1 season, the Spaniard enjoying this week his first day at the office at the Aston Martin factory.

The Silverstone-based outfit welcomed its new charger who will fill the void left by F1 retiree Sebastian Vettel. And Aston is counting on Alonso's fierce competitive spirit and veteran talent to help carry the team to the next level.

From a seat fitting to debriefs with his new crews to a run in Aston simulator, it was a packed first day in green for the two-time F1 world champion as one can see in the behind-the-scenes video posted by Aston Martin on its YouTube channel.

It's likely that Alonso will be as Aston's AMR23 when testing gets underway at the end of next month in Bahrain. But over the long term, the 32-time Grand Prix winner believes that he can help build his new team into a championship winning squad.

"If we end up being world champions, I will also be satisfied because I can say that I contributed to the construction of this title," he said recently.

"I’m happy to embark on a new project and make it a success as soon as possible."
