The producers of the new documentary 'Villeneuve Pironi: Racing's Untold Tragedy' have released the official trailer of the epic that will premiere at the Glasgow Film Festival next month.
The documentary tells the fateful story of the friendship between daring Ferrari drivers Gilles Villeneuve and Didier Pironi and how their close relationship imploded when a tacit agreement between the two men and team orders were broken at the San Marino Grand Prix in 1982.
The outcome of the memorable race, won by Pironi, led to an estrangement between the two drivers and to tragedy for both families, for Ferrari and for Formula 1.
Produced by Sky Studios and Noah Media Group film, the documentary benefits from the insight and participation of Gilles Villeneuve's wife Joann and her son, 1997 F1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve.
Catherine Goux, Pironi's partner, and her two sons Gilles and Didier also contribute to the epic film, as do several high-profile F1 personalities - such as Alain Prost and Sir Jackie Stewart - who witnessed at the time the events that tore Villeneuve and Pironi apart.
The film will premiere in Glasgow on March 5 ahead of its release on March 19 on Sky Documentaries.
