Sergio Perez heads to this week's Canadian Grand Prix determined to turn around his form after his troubled last two outings that significantly undermined his title ambitions.
Perez crashed in qualifying in Monaco which left him well out of the points on race day. In Barcelona last time out, the Red Bull driver again made life difficult for himself when he failed to exit Q2 on Saturday afternoon.
The Mexican managed to secure a fourth-place finish and 12 points on Sunday but the shortfall to dominant teammate Max Verstappen in the two races pushed his deficit to the latter in the Drivers' standings to 53 points.
Catching Verstappen in the championship now seems like a near impossible task for Perez unless a bout of misfortune suddenly hits the Dutchman. Regardless, Perez can no longer afford any slipups.
"I am looking forward to getting back in the car this weekend," he said in Red Bull's Canadian Grand Prix preview.
"I have been in Milton Keynes since the Spanish GP, working hard with my team and we have put in a lot of good work and had some very constructive conversations.
"I know what I must do to get back to the form I am capable of and as a team we know how to get the car into a window where I will perform best."

Perez highlighted the importance of being able to rely on his team's support and solidarity when things don't go according to plan. But ultimately, he is on his own out on the track.
"Getting through moments like this, it’s more important than ever to work as a team and we will all support each other to push for the win in Canada," he added.
"I have a fantastic car and it’s always exciting to get behind the wheel, I must be massively consistent in Montreal and have a complete weekend."
