Wolff on a roll - fractures elbow in mountain bike spill!

Toto Wolff suffered a rocky start to his summer break, with the Mercedes F1 team boss taking a tumble and fracturing his left elbow following a mountain bike spill in Austria.

Susie Wolff revealed the mishap in a post on social that included pictures of the couple's holiday in the Austrian mountains with their son Jack.

While the 51-year-old was seen sporting a full-length cast on his left arm, there were no mentions of any specific complications, which should ensure that Wolff enjoys a speedy recovery during the remaining two weeks of F1's summer slumber.

In the past, the holidays have occasionally been a risky period for a few prominent F1 figures. In August 2021, Red Bull chief technical officer Adrian Newey also took a spill while out cycling in Croatia.

But it was a nasty tumble for the Briton who suffered multiple skull fractures that required a proper craniotomy, which kept him away from the Red Bull pitwall for a few races at a crucial time for the Milton Keynes-based outfit.

In the future, F1's notables might want to consider sticking to four wheels while on holiday.

Meanwhile Susie Wolff's post on Instagram also featured a picture of the managing director of the F1 Academy all suited and booted and briefing her son ahead of the pair heading out on track for a karting session.
