The FIA has reportedly adjourned the Haas team’s Right of Review case to Thursday to allow the US GP stewards to “independently consider” the new evidence submitted by the US outfit.
Haas submitted a Right of Review last week as the team contends that track limitations at the Circuit of the Americas were abused in the US GP Turn 6 by Williams Alex Albon, but also by several other drivers without the stewards taking any action over the infringements.
It came to light after the race that the transgressions escaped the officials’ scrutiny because the CCTV cameras monitoring the action at Turn 6 did not provide a clear view of the track’s boundaries.
Haas took a dim view of this justification and opted to lodge a Right of Review with the FIA claiming it had new evidence to submit.
Haas has allegedly put together a series of onboard videos of drivers running through the corner and repeatedly breaching track limits.
However, it’s unclear why Haas believes this footage – which was also available to the stewards in Austin – constitutes “new evidence”.
The drivers reportedly involved in the matter are Albon, Sergio Perez, Logan Sargeant and Lance Stroll.
Eventual sanctions against these drivers could result in a change of the US Grand Prix’s standings, and to points being awarded to Haas and to Nico Hulkenberg who, having been classified P11, would be set to benefit from any penalties.
In a virtual meeting that took place on this day, November 8, Haas provided to the stewards the "significant, relevant, new evidence" required for its Right of Review.
However, the stewards from the US race, Felix Holter, Andrew Mallalieu, Derek Warwick and Dennis Dean elected to adjourn the hearing to evaluate the evidence presented.
A decision on whether the Haas US outfit’s Right of Review has been successful will be announced when the stewards reconvene on Thursday November 9.
