Ricciardo’s 2024 Australian GP helmet is up for grabs

Daniel Ricciardo’s home race in Melbourne last weekend wasn’t all sunshine and celebrations, but the Aussie is turning his disappointment into something positive for children in need.

Ricciardo’s eye-catching Australian Grand Prix helmet is now up for grabs through a special online auction, with all proceeds going to a worthy cause.

The design of Danny Ric’s unique lid was the brainchild of 20-year-old Australian artist Rosie Pettenon, whose creation won a competition hosted by Optus.

The original creative brief called for artists to capture the essence of "identifiably Australian optimism."

Rosie Pettenon incorporated Australian gums, wattle and Kangaroo paw, the floral emblem of Daniel’s home state of Western Australian within the design.

Hidden symbols such as the Honey Badger, Daniel’s racing persona, and kangaroos were integrated to represent Daniel’s family.

“I am so blown away to be a part of such a cool project. I knew it was an amazing opportunity and having my design chosen was a dream come true,” said Rosie.

“I was super flattered that Daniel was keen on keeping the design true to my own art practise, one that I am so passionate about sharing.”

“During my career I've worn plenty of helmet designs, all crafted by talented artists, and most with a meaningful message, but it's the first time I've given a chance for a member of the public to design it,” commented Ricciardo.

“My helmet has always been that creative outlet, it's really the only canvas we have, especially in a sport so driven by numbers and analytics.

“Being able to collaborate with emerging Australian artist, Rosie, and with Optus providing this platform to showcase her design talent, it's really put a huge smile on my face.”

The incredible piece of racing memorabilia is more than just a helmet; it's a chance to own a piece of Australian F1 history and support a great cause.

The auction, which benefits Save the Children Australia, a charity Ricciardo is passionately involved with, is already heating up.

With three days left to bid, the unreserved most recent offer currently sits at a hefty $51,000.
