Evans steals thrilling Shanghai E-Prix win with last-lap pass

Jaguar's Mitch Evans delivered a masterclass in strategy and opportunism to snatch victory in a dramatic finish to the Shanghai E-Prix.

Starting third, Evans wasted no time, overtaking pole-sitter Vergne and both Nissan and Porsche drivers (Rowland, Wehrlein, and da Costa) by lap 7.

The Porsches, however, were running strong as a team, utilizing ATTACK MODE strategically to maintain position while conserving energy.

By mid-race, the Porsches, led by Wehrlein, surged back into the lead. Evans remained close behind, but the two Porsche cars cleverly worked together, strategically blocking Evans in Turn 1 and preventing him from retaking the lead.

Lap 19 proved pivotal. Evans, with a slight energy advantage over da Costa, managed to squeeze past him, setting him up for a shot at Wehrlein. Wehrlein, already depleted on energy, was forced to defend aggressively.

Evans, after a failed attempt at the hairpin on the previous lap, finally found his opportunity on the last lap. He executed a daring outside pass around Wehrlein, stealing the lead and holding on for a thrilling victory.

Evans’ win tightens the championship race. Cassidy lead Wehrlein in the Drivers' table 155 points to 142, with Rowland third on 130.

Jaguar TCS Racing emerges even stronger in the team standings, extending their lead to 66 points after winning three of the last four races.
