Fernando Alonso has sent a video message to fans to thank them for their support following his crash in testing.
Alonso was hospitalised for three days after crashing during the final day of the second test at the Circuit de Catalunya, with Ron Dennis saying yesterday that doctors exercised caution as Alonso was unconscious following the accident.
Having been released from hospital on Wednesday but ruled out of the final test, Alonso said he would like to be driving this week but is following his doctor’s orders to try and ensure he is fit for the Australian Grand Prix in two weeks.
“As you can see I’m completely fine,” Alonso said. “I would like to be in the test this week in Barcelona but the doctors’ recommendations are to wait a little bit, a couple of days.
“I will rest this weekend and I will keep you updated next week with progress and see you very soon on the track. Thanks for all the support.”
