F1 toasts to 75 Years with Moët & Chandon’s triumphant comeback

In a fitting tribute to Formula 1's rich history, Moët & Chandon, the renowned luxury Champagne house, has reclaimed its place as the sport's Official Champagne.

This prestigious partnership coincides with Formula 1's landmark 75th anniversary in 2025, adding a touch of celebratory elegance to the milestone year.

The renewed alliance between Formula 1 and Moët & Chandon, part of the LVMH family, underscores the shared values of performance, refinement, and timeless tradition that bind the two iconic brands.

A Storied Tradition Reignited

The story of Moët & Chandon's association with motorsport began at the 1950 French Grand Prix in Reims, the heart of the Champagne wine-growing region.

It was there that Paul Chandon-Moët and Count Frédéric Chandon de Briailles presented a bottle of their esteemed Champagne to race winner Juan Manuel Fangio.

The gesture laid the foundation for a tradition that would later become one of the sport’s most iconic moments – the podium champagne celebration.

This initial connection evolved into a formal partnership in 1966, solidifying Moët & Chandon's position as the first Champagne house to be officially associated with Formula 1.

The iconic image of drivers spraying Champagne on the podium, a ritual popularized by Dan Gurney's celebratory act at the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hours, became synonymous with the sport, further cementing the legendary brand’s legacy.

Following Moët & Chandon’s tenure, F1 transitioned through partnerships with G.H. Mumm, Chandon, Carbon, and, most recently, Ferrari Trento.

However, as the sport embarks on a landmark season, it welcomes back the brand that helped shape one of its most cherished customs.

A Celebration of Excellence

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali expressed his enthusiasm for the reunion, emphasizing the deep-rooted connection between the two institutions.

“The tradition of toasting on the podium is one of the most iconic moments in our sport, and we are thrilled to welcome once again Moët & Chandon as the Official Champagne of Formula 1.

“This partnership celebrates the history, emotion, and excellence that bind Formula 1 and Moët & Chandon, in a perfect union of performance and refinement in a truly special year that sees us celebrate our 75th anniversary.

“The return of Moët & Chandon to the podium strengthens further the bond of our innovative partnership with LVMH and we cannot wait to toast this extraordinary collaboration together.”

With Moët & Chandon’s return, Formula 1 brings back a touch of timeless elegance to its podiums, ensuring that every victory is celebrated with the same spirit of prestige and heritage that has defined both the sport and the legendary champagne house for decades.
