Villeneuve returns to Williams, completes star Ambassador line-up

Williams Racing has confirmed that Jenson Button and Jamie Chadwick will continue as ambassadors for the 2025 Formula 1 season, with 1997 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve joining the prestigious line-up.

The move reinforces the British team’s commitment to honoring its rich heritage while driving forward into a competitive future.

Villeneuve, who remains the last driver to secure a Drivers’ Championship title for Williams in 1997, returns to the team at a pivotal moment in its ongoing transformation.

The Canadian racing legend etched his name in history by clinching the championship in only his second season in Formula 1, having already won the IndyCar title – and the Indy 500 – two years prior.

“Williams has been a crucial part of my life, filled with fond memories,” Villeneuve said. “I am ecstatic to be part of the family again and to help celebrate the team’s heritage while supporting its future.”

Button Celebrates 25 Years Since His F1 Debut

Jenson Button, who made his Formula 1 debut with Williams in 2000, marks the 25th anniversary of that milestone in 2025.

Since rejoining Williams as an ambassador in 2019, the 2009 World Champion has seamlessly blended his involvement with the team with a successful sportscar racing and broadcasting career.

“Williams gave me my first shot in Formula 1, and it’s incredible to be celebrating 25 years since that debut this year,” Button reflected.

“Being an ambassador for this team is a privilege, and I’m excited to continue contributing to its legacy and future.”

Chadwick Continues to Break Barriers

Three-time W Series champion and Indy NXT race winner Jamie Chadwick has been an integral part of Williams Racing since 2019.

As an ambassador, she continues to represent the team while also serving as an F1 Academy Adviser, where she mentors young talents such as Lia Block.

“Williams has been a huge part of my career and journey in motorsport over the last four years,” Chadwick stated.

“I’m proud to continue representing the team in 2025, challenging myself to keep developing as a driver and helping to mentor the next generation of racers coming through F1 Academy.”

Vowles Praises Williams’ Ambassador Line-Up

Williams Racing Team Principal James Vowles hailed the trio as the embodiment of the team’s storied past and ambitious future.

“It’s a privilege to have Jenson, Jacques, and Jamie with the team for 2025,” Vowles said.

“Together they are the perfect representation of this iconic team: the history we have made, our proud tradition of investing in future champions and opening up access to motorsport, and our ambition and determination to make history again.”

“Jenson and Jacques made their F1 debuts with Williams and went on to become World Champions, while Jamie has broken boundaries for women in motorsport as a Williams Racing driver and mentor to Lia.

“We are delighted to have them as part of the next chapter in Williams’ story.”

With an exciting ambassador line-up and ongoing efforts to rebuild towards the front of the grid, Williams Racing is set to honor its past while shaping a promising future in Formula 1.
