Hamilton working on more film projects with production company

Fresh off his producing debut with the soon-to-be-released Hollywood epic ‘F1’, Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he is already working on multiple new projects through his production company, Dawn Apollo Films.

The seven-time world champion attended on Wednesday evening in Monaco, along with his F1 colleagues, a private screening of the sport’s upcoming blockbuster, helmed by famed producer Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Top Gun: Maverick’s Joseph Kosinski.

But while Brad Pitt star’s on the screen as fictional veteran racer Sonny hayes, Hamilton’s fingerprints are all over the film behind the scenes – and he’s not stopping there.

Ahead of this weekend’s round of racing in Monte Carlo, the Ferrari driver revealed a slate of ambitious projects – animations, documentaries, and even whispers of a television series – that promise to bring his creative vision to the big screen and beyond.

From Grand Prix to the Silver Screen

With the same passion he pours into racing, Hamilton is steering his career toward a cinematic legacy, and he’s just getting started.

“I’ve never done it before, but I’ve got these concepts, these ideas that I’ve come up with for the movies,” he told the media on Thursday.

“At least two of them will be animations, and one of them is already in the phase of the first part of the script already, so it’s exciting. Then there’ll be movie documentaries, there’ll be… mostly movies.”

While his passion for racing remains strong, it’s clear Hamilton is equally energized by his creative pursuits, having embraced every aspect of the filmmaking process during his first project.

“From writing the first script to the first 30 pages, to then see it build into a story and then get to work with the writers on trying to make sure it’s as authentic [as possible],” he said.

He also singled out the opportunity to collaborate with Kosinski and Bruckheimer as “really interesting and incredible,” with legendary composer Hans Zimmer joining the project to further elevate the film’s production value.

Dawn Apollo Rises

The release of ‘F1’ marks not just a new milestone for Hamilton personally, but also for Dawn Apollo Films, the company he founded with a vision to create diverse, impactful stories.

“When you watch the movie, at the beginning we see all the different logos of the different production houses, and my one comes up, which is Dawn Apollo, it was amazing to see that,” he said.

“Then quite early on in the film, it starts telling us who produced the movie, and it came up with my name, and I was like, oh my god, this is crazy.”

Despite his A-list collaborators and meticulous involvement in ensuring the film’s authenticity, Hamilton admitted to feeling anxious about how his fellow drivers would react to the final cut.

“I’ve got all the drivers there and I was sat in the middle and I was nervous,” he confessed.

“I was seeing it for the first time and it was great to look around and see some of the reactions from particularly the drivers. I really care what the drivers think and I wanted them to think highly of it.”

Ever the perfectionist, Hamilton was quick to encourage honest feedback – even if the film wasn't flawless.

“I must do after this, like, welcome your honest opinions about it, because for sure there’s parts where the timing may be off on a strategy stop or whatever it might be,” he admitted.

“But I think the great thing is the sound is great, the image is incredible. It’s something that’s never been done before, so it’s something I’m really proud of.”

As Hamilton prepares for yet another showdown on the streets of Monaco, it’s clear that his career is accelerating far beyond the racetrack.

With a growing collection of film and TV projects, he’s steering Dawn Apollo Films into bold new territory – and taking the audience along for the ride.
