Thumbs up, thumps down: Hamilton Instagram move causes stir

Lewis Hamilton is no stranger to making headlines, but this week, it wasn’t his driving or fashion that got fans talking – it was his thumb.

The seven-time world champion briefly “liked” an Instagram post slamming Ferrari’s underwhelming 2025 season… and then swiftly “unliked” it, sending F1 social media into a frenzy of speculation.

Just a slip of the finger – or a subtle signal from a frustrated star?

The now-infamous post didn't hold back, airing many of the criticisms fans and pundits have been murmuring all season. It read:

"There’s a deep sense of disappointment watching Lewis Hamilton’s transition to Ferrari unfold this season. While the hope for his historic 8th World Championship remains alive, the reality is increasingly difficult to ignore. The partnership, though iconic on paper, has so far failed to deliver on track.

"Ferrari’s current car package lacks the consistency and pace Lewis needs. Beyond technical issues, there appears to be a growing disconnect — from strategy calls to team communication. It’s also clear that cultural differences may be playing a role; Lewis, a seasoned British driver, now operates in an environment dominated by Italian structure and style — and that adaptation hasn’t been smooth.

"So far, his only podium came in a sprint race. Since then, it’s been a slide back into the midfield, most notably finishing P8 — far from where a seven-time world champion belongs.

"As fans, we still believe in his ability to make history. But this season proves: legacy alone doesn’t win races — performance and synergy do."

Ferrari Friction or Finger Fumble?

Was Hamilton making a quiet statement with his double-tap – or just scrolling too fast before his morning espresso kicked in? It’s hard to say, but the moves comes at a time when his frustration with Ferrari seems to be mounting.

Hamilton’s debut season in red has, so far, been more fizzle than fire. No podium finishes in full races, a P8 in Spain after being passed by a Sauber, and increasingly tense radio messages paint a picture of a legend in limbo.

His only semi-bright moment? A sprint win – hardly the kind of champagne celebration envisioned when he signed the blockbuster deal to leave Mercedes.

The adaptation to Maranello life, including his working relationship with engineer Riccardo Adami, appears to be... ongoing, let’s say.

Canada Calling: A Turnaround Point?

As the F1 circus heads to Montreal, Hamilton might be looking at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve with a wistful smile. It’s the place where he scored his maiden F1 victory back in 2007, and he’s since added six more wins on Canadian soil.

Could this be the weekend Ferrari finally gives him a car worthy of his talents? Team-mate Charles Leclerc managed a podium in Spain, and with rumored upgrades to Ferrari’s rear suspension and floor in the pipeline, there’s cautious optimism that Hamilton’s season might yet be salvageable.

For now, fans are left wondering: was that Instagram like a moment of honesty from a driver who's had enough – or just a clumsy slip? Either way, the message was loud and clear: something needs to change. And fast.
