Williams has announced GP3 champion Alex Lynn will be the team's development driver for the 2015 season.

Having won last year's GP3 title by a record points margin, Red Bull junior Lynn was in the frame for a race seat at Toro Rosso before losing out to Carlos Sainz Jr. However, Williams has moved to offer him a development driver role alongside his GP2 racing duties for DAMS this season, with Lynn also set to take part in a day of testing the FW37 after this year's Spanish Grand Prix.

Williams deputy team principal Claire Williams said Lynn's performances last season stood out to the team and she is confident he will form part of a strong line-up alongside race drivers Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas as well as test driver Susie Wolff.

“Williams has a strong track record in bringing young talent though the ranks and our Development Driver position is designed to fully immerse new recruits into the inner workings of a Formula One team," Williams said. "As a British team we are always on the lookout for emerging home-grown talent and Alex has caught our eye with his impressive performances in GP3.

"He has been chosen on merit and we are confident that alongside Felipe, Valtteri and Susie, Alex will help play an important role in making sure that the FW37 shows continuous improvement over the course of the 2015 season.”
