Hamilton swaps horsepower for art, but dreams of iconic Ferrari

Seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has confirmed that his once-impressive collection of exotic machines is no more.

The Briton revealed ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix that he has sold his entire collection of supercars – a fleet once valued in the millions – in favour of collecting art.

“I don't have any cars anymore,” Hamilton admitted. “I don't have any cars, so I got rid of all my cars. I'm more into art nowadays.”

Hamilton’s garage once read like a dream list for car enthusiasts: a Pagani Zonda 760 LH, Ferrari LaFerrari, 1966 Shelby Cobra, and Mercedes-AMG Project One were just a few of the jewels in his private stables in Monaco and Los Angeles.

At one point, the incredible collection was estimated to be worth an estimated £13 million – or $17.5 million.

Still Dreaming of One Iconic Prancing Horse

Despite turning the page on that chapter of his life, Hamilton confessed there is one machine he still covets – Ferrari’s iconic F40. Regarded by many as the ultimate road-going machine from the House of Maranello, the 1980s legend remains etched in Hamilton’s imagination as both a car and a work of art.

The Briton even teased plans to take that dream further, into design.

“If I was going to get a car, it would be the F40. But that's a nice piece of art,” he said.

“One of the things I really want to do is I want to design a Ferrari. I want to do an F44. Baseline of an F40, with the actual stick shift. That’s what I’m gonna work on for the next few years.”

On Two Wheels Instead of Four

While Hamilton has stepped away from amassing four-wheeled treasures, his passion for motorcycles is alive and well.

He has often been spotted arriving at race weekends on a Ducati Panigale V4 S superbike in tricolore livery, or aboard his MV Agusta F4 LH44 – a limited-edition collaboration bike bearing his name.

So while the days of garage tours filled with priceless cars may be gone, Hamilton’s motor dreams are far from over.

Whether it’s finally owning an F40 or shaping his own “F44” for the future, the Ferrari star’s connection with speed and design clearly remains in full throttle.
