Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took pole position last weekend in Monaco, but in matters of the heart.
The 27-year-old Monegasque took to social media on Sunday evening to announce his engagement to girlfriend Alexandra Saint Mleux in a heartwarming post that delighted the Grand Prix driver’s legion of fans.
With their famous dachshund Leo – a familiar presence in the F1 paddock – stealing a bit of the spotlight, the couple’s announcement was a perfect blend of romance, elegance, and a touch of canine-assisted charm.
Leclerc, ever the master of understated style, let the pictures do the talking on his Instagram account, which featured a series of tender snapshots of the couple, while Leo sported a dog collar with the cheeky message, “Dad wants to marry you!”
While the eight-time F1 winner kept the details of the big moment under wraps, the photos hinted at a celebration as sweet as the couple themselves, complete with cakes, roses, and a dog bone proudly proclaiming, “She said yes!”
The caption was quintessential Leclerc: simple, heartfelt, and brimming with love. “Mr². & Mrs. Leclerc ,” he wrote, sending fans into a frenzy.
Leclerc and Saint Mleux have been together since mid-2023, when eagle-eyed fans first spotted the 22-year-old Italian art and literature student – and now fashion influencer – alongside him at Paris Fashion Week.
Since then, the pair have been inseparable – from red carpets to race weekends, where Alexandra has become a familiar face cheering on Ferrari’s front man.
As the engagement announcement went viral, and millions of likes poured in, a few of Leclerc’s F1 colleagues chimed in. Oscar Piastri dropped a concise “Congrats!”, while Carlos Sainz, Leclerc’s former Ferrari teammate posted an exuberant “Yesssss!”
Leclerc will soon be one of only a handful of married men on the F1 grid in 2026. Currently, only Nico Hülkenberg and future F1 returnee Sergio Pérez hold that distinction, while others like Fernando Alonso and Valtteri Bottas have past marital experience to their names.
Whether the future wedding will take place in Monaco, Maranello, or somewhere in between, one thing’s for sure: Charles Leclerc has found his perfect co-driver – and Leo approves.
