Lindblad reveals the ‘little superpower” he’s bringing into F1 debut

As the sole rookie in a field of seasoned giants, Racing Bulls recruit Arvid Lindblad is stepping into a "surreal" new reality, but he isn’t arriving empty-handed.

The highly-rated Briton believes he’s armed with something extra – a quiet advantage, one that he calls his “little superpower”, that could help him navigate the steep learning curve that awaits in 2026.

Fast-tracked through the junior ranks by Red Bull after switching to single-seaters as recently as 2022, Lindblad will make his Formula 1 debut at just 18 years old.

Partnering Liam Lawson at Racing Bulls, he steps into the sport at a moment of major technical change, with new power units and regulations reshaping the competitive landscape.

During Red Bull’s 2026 livery launch in Detroit, Lindblad could hardly hide his sense of awe.

“This moment is honestly surreal. To be introduced as a Formula One driver at an event like this, in such an iconic setting, is something I’ll never forget,” he said.

“The team’s vision, the new power unit, and the belief they’ve shown in me mean a lot. I’m ready to learn, to work, and to give everything on track as we start this new chapter together.”

It is the language of a driver looking forward and focused not on how quickly he arrived, but on how much more there is to absorb.

A ‘Little Superpower’ Behind the Scenes

Behind Lindblad’s rapid rise has been the steady presence of fellow racer and Formula E world champion Oliver Rowland, who has followed his progress closely through the junior categories.

While Rowland’s Formula E success might seem worlds apart from Formula 1, Lindblad sees crossover value – especially as energy management becomes increasingly critical in modern F1.

Asked by talkSPORT whether Rowland could offer guidance, Lindblad was unequivocal.

"Yeah, for sure. I mean, Ollie himself, not talking about the Formula E aspect, I've learned so much from him. It wasn't that long ago that he was on the ladder on the way up to F1,” he explained.

"I'm massively grateful to him for his support, and it's a big reason why I've been able to come through the ranks so quickly.

"To have some of his expertise and advice and knowledge, especially in F2 and F3 it was a massive thing to be able to make the steps. For sure, yeah, it's a little superpower with Formula E.

"It's not the same. But yes, there is a battery-saving element. Whether it's battery saving or not, there's a bigger battery element in F1 of managing the PU, let's say.

"Having his knowledge of Formula E, where he's done so well there and really understood it and mastered it is definitely something I'll be picking his brains on a lot and trying to get the most out of."

As Formula 1 prepares for a future shaped by hybrid efficiency and smarter energy use, Lindblad’s support network could prove invaluable.

For a rookie stepping into the sport’s most demanding environment, that “little superpower” might just make a very big difference.
