The 2020 Italian Grand Prix winner is backing a two-wheeled project with equally ambitious aspirations. Tech3 confirmed the Frenchman as part of its new ownership consortium, describing him as the first active F1 driver to invest in a MotoGP team.
Gasly’s connection to the MotoGP paddock isn’t new. He first sampled that world during a visit to the Thai Grand Prix in 2019 and has since built a friendship with French MotoGP star Fabio Quartararo.
But the 29-year-old’s move goes far beyond paddock visits and photo opportunities.
“I have a strong conviction in the strength of the Tech3 brand and the long-term growth of the MotoGP sport,” Gasly said, framing the deal as a belief in the championship’s future.
"Tech3 has significant untapped potential, and I look forward to contributing to further elevating the team’s profile."
Gasly is one name among a prominent list of shareholders behind Tech3’s new era. The group that took over the outfit last year was spearheaded by former Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner – the team’s new CEO – alongside Richard Coleman and IKON Capital.
They have since be joined by Bolt Ventures, headed by US sports investor David Blitzer, and Main Street Advisors, founded by Paul Wachter of Fenway Sports Group fame, whose portfolio includes global giants such as Liverpool FC and the Boston Red Sox.

The shift in ownership follows Tech3 founder Hervé Poncharal handing over control at the start of the year, ushering in fresh financial muscle and international reach.
For Gasly, whose sporting investments already stretch to a stake in French football club FC Versailles, it’s another calculated play beyond the cockpit.
With Steiner’s leadership and a syndicate of billionaire-backed partners, Tech3 is no longer just a satellite team – it’s a brand-new powerhouse in the making.
